¡Se buscan manos tejedoras! Emprenderemos un viaje de textiles por Latino América para crear paisajes, animales y figuras geométricas. Ya sea tejer, bordar o simplemente cortar y pegar atractivos pedazos de telas y materiales, los niños aprenderán habilidades técnicas y artísticas relacionadas con los textiles al igual que la cultura y artesanías de los países de Latino América.
We will take a textile journey through Latin America and create landscapes, animals, and geometric figures. Whether it’s weaving, stitching, or simply cutting and gluing different fabric colors and textures, children will learn technical and artistic skills pertaining to different textile media that tell the stories of different Latin American cultures.

Have you ever wanted to draw the softness of a feather or your kitty cat’s fur? Or perhaps you would like to replicate the bumpy and scaly skin of a crocodile or Komodo dragon? It’s not as difficult as you might think, and all of us can learn to draw these exciting details! Join our next art adventure to learn how to draw the beautiful textures and patterns we find in the animal kingdom, and in all of nature!

Let’s learn about the history of computers, play games based on algorithms, and connect with these valuable tools in a meaningful way. Then we will use coding techniques to create our own computer game, do hands-on art & circuitry activities to develop robotic toys!
This course covers a lot of computer science basics in a fun and engaging manner, allowing for kids to play as they learn. And they will walk away with essential knowledge for their future success.

Join a team of math wizards, practicing strategy, strengthening fluency, and learning from each other! This class is designed to keep the mathematical spark alive and growing in your middle-school age child, preparing them for success in the higher levels of this essential course of study. Students will engage in a variety of math problems and go far beyond their grade level skill set.

Now, we’ll organize our minds and spirits with guided activities to recognize emotions, relax from stress, and re-energize our positivity! Mindfulness exercises will be instructed, practiced, and integrated into your tool-belt of life skills.

Do you need friendship advice? Are you worried about current events? Do you have other questions, wonderings, feelings that you’d like to explore in a safe place? This will be our unique community discussion space for anything we want to express and share.

Join our student-directed learning community in exploring Essential Questions of Existence, the Big History Project, and Improvisational Theater techniques on Tuesdays this semester. Discussion and debate will be generated through short readings and journal responses as each individual finds their voice, and we co-create a safe space to express our feelings, thoughts, and wonderings at the same time!

Students: Do you have a beginning base in Spanish and are looking for an opportunity to learn more? Do you want to grow your listening, pronunciation and conversational skills with other students? Then Español Eléctrico is for you! This semester, we will follow the adventures of a young boy as he journeys through the cities and jungles of Colombia. Your eyes will be opened to the language, diverse people, customs, and cultures of South America.
Parents: Through a comprehensible input model, children will build on their beginning level Spanish language skills to learn up to 350 nouns, verbs, and common expressions. Our semester study will consist of a short novel, ‘Peter va a Colombia,’ as our core curriculum. Games, projects, and lessons will revolve around the book. Students will be expected to read passages and complete homework prior to class meetings. Additional Skype tutoring is available for an additional fee.

Celebrate the spirit of fall at our annual Arts and Crafts event!
Enjoy this unique opportunity to travel through space and time and truly experience the rich heritage and traditions of Mexico. Our crafternoon seeks to encourage self-expression, share cultural awareness, and have a lot of fun while we do! Hands-on activities will be followed by delicious pan de muerto and Mexican hot chocolate.
